Where to Watch the Mallorca Solar Eclipse

On August 12, 2026, Mallorca gets its first total solar eclipse since 1905, and it happens right as the sun sets. Because totality happens so close to the horizon, you need an open, unobstructed western view, no hills, buildings, or trees in the way. Expect these spots to be busy, arrive early.

★ Must-do
Arrive by 19:00Coastal Viewpoint

Southwest Coast, Sant Elm & Port d'Andratx

The best all-around choice, close to the full 1 minute 36 seconds of totality, with open sea views west toward the island of Sa Dragonera. Sant Elm's beachfront is a free option, or watch from a table at Cala Conills, a seafood restaurant right on the water, or Barlovento in nearby Port d'Andratx.

Sa Foradada

One of Mallorca's most iconic sunset viewpoints, with a dramatic open sea view west through the famous hole in the rock. Watch from Mirador Sa Foradada restaurant or the bar right beside the viewpoint.

Palma Seafront & Bellver Castle

The easiest option if you're staying in Palma. The Passeig Marítim promenade and the West Breakwater both have open sightlines west, and Bellver Castle's elevation gives it an edge over street level.

Staying in Palma and want dinner nearby? Two to consider: Terrassa de Mar, a rooftop near the cathedral and the seafront promenade, and Tree House by UM, overlooking Moll Vell harbour. Check the view west before booking if you plan to watch from the table.

North Coast, Alcúdia, Pollença, Cap de Formentor

Dramatic scenery, but only around 25 to 35 seconds of totality since this stretch sits near the edge of the eclipse's path, worth knowing before driving out here specifically for this.
