A Perfect Day on the Water
Our second summer doing this, and we've got it down to an art. One boat out of Alcúdia, two of the north's most beautiful coves, and a cooler full of snacks. Here's exactly how we spent the day.
Morning
Leaving AlcúdiaPush off from Puerto de Alcúdia
We left Puerto de Alcúdia at 10am, cooler packed, homemade sandwiches made the night before, and way too many drinks (never a mistake). The trick to a good boat day is bringing everything with you, so you never have to cut it short to find food. Stock up before you leave the port.
Swim and snorkel at Playa des Coll Baix
First stop, Playa des Coll Baix. This one is special because it is so hard to reach by land, which means by boat you get it almost to yourself. The water is unreal for swimming and snorkelling, so many fish right there beneath you. We spent the whole morning just floating and diving. If you only snorkel one spot, make it this one.

The Formentor sideLunch and the afternoon at Cala Figuera
Around lunchtime we pulled up the anchor and moved to Cala Figuera, out on the Formentor side, and stayed the entire afternoon. Fewer fish than Coll Baix for snorkelling, I will be honest, but the view is absolutely stunning, some of the most beautiful water on the island. This is where the sandwiches and cold drinks came out and we just switched off.

Golden hour homeHead back to port
We gave ourselves about an hour to get back, leaving Cala Figuera around six to be at the port by seven. Golden hour on the water on the way home is the perfect end to the day. Do not rush it.
The honest tips
- ✓Bring everything: food, homemade sandwiches, more drinks than you think you need, sun cream and a good snorkel.
- ✓Coll Baix for the fish, Cala Figuera for the view. Do both.
- ✓Leave yourself an hour to get back to port. Golden hour on the way home is half the magic.
